Our Passion:
How to be Saved
The first thing that needs to happen in order for a person to be saved -- is they must come to realize they are in need of salvation! The thought might seem a tad obvious, but it's absolutely true. In order for God to save you, YOU must have the desire to be saved. While 12 steps are detailed here, there are no actual steps listed in the Bible. We present them to allow your mind to more clearly encapsulate what the Bible says. The grouping of information into steps allows for easier understanding. So, I ask you the first question: are you in need of salvation? Even if you think you don't, I recommend you read the entire section before leaving.
I'm sure that at some point in life most people have seen the phrase: "Jesus Saves" somewhere. It could have been a movie, a billboard, or the sign in the front of a church. Do you know what it means? For some people, the word "saved" has an off-putting connotation. Usually, that thought is driven by a previous negative experience, where some overly zealous person tried to push religion in your face. Most of us can tell of similar incidents happening in our lives. I want you to know that coming to God is a wonderfully fulfilling and most pleasant encounter. You might feel a bit nervous as you approach Him, but that's normal. So, the bottom line: there's nothing bad or wrong with "getting saved."
The word "saved" comes from the word "salvation." We find the first use of it mentioned in the book of Exodus, chapter 14, verse 13 (See figure 1). The word used here for "salvation" is yeshuat[yesh-SHOE-at]and means ‘rescue, deliverance, prosperity.’ Who wouldn't want to be rescued, delivered and made to prosper? To set the stage, the Hebrews were standing on the edge of the Red Sea, trapped between the sea and Pharaoh's army. They were facing certain destruction, and were on the verge of outright panic. Moses told the Hebrews; "Don't be afraid! Be silent, stand still and observe the LORD's salvation!" God saved the Hebrews back then, and He will save you today.
Jesus in the person who will save you. Did you know that the very name of Jesus [yeh-SHOE-ah] comes from the Hebrew word for salvation? He's the person in whom our salvation--or rescue--is made possible. That's why the phrase "Jesus Saves" is spoken so often by His followers. The reason He is so important to the process is that as the Son of God, He was the One who willingly came to earth to save mankind. It was His job to live a perfect life, so that by His death, He could redeem the whole of mankind. Redeemmeans to 'remove an obligation by payment.' Jesus, by shedding His innocent blood, paid for the sin of the whole of mankind. The 12 steps are the way you accept payment for your sins.
If you are being honest with yourself, you likely KNOW by now that absolutely, positively there is a God. He's the One who created you. You didn't come from the apes, monkeys or any other animal. Aliens didn't deposit us on the earth. Nope. We were all created. And not only that, but we were created in God's image (See fig. 2). That doesn't mean we are miniature copies of Him. No. The word for "image" in Hebrew is 'tselem [T'SELL-lem] and means 'semblance.' It's where we get the word resemblance. Now, that's not saying we look like God. No, not at all. It's another way of saying that man has certain characteristics which resemble God.
The most important thing God gave us is free will. Every one of us was created with free will. FreeWill is nothing more than 'the right to make a choice with being coerced.' That essentially means you get to choose whether to believe in God, or not. It’s entirely your choice to accept Him or reject Him. If you wish to accept Him, there’s a way to go about it. By the way, we call this route to God; "The 12 steps down the Roman Road," for two reasons. First, most of the verses we quote come out of the book of Romans, which was written by the Apostle Paul. Second, the roads Jesus and His apostles walked on were built by the Romans. And thirdly, your walk down the "Roman Road" will make you an apostle, just like them.

And God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.
